Guest
Hi, I have uploaded osCommerce to my server and I have changed the permissions for the confirgure.php file as the install documentation suggests but neither of the suggested values stops a red bar coming up warning me that this is a potential security. I'm a total noob so am i missing something obvious? Cheers

Jack_mcs
Check with your host and make sure they will allow you to change the permissions. Some of them will prevent some permissions from being changed. ♥Vger
If you are on a Windows server and using the chmod command via FTP to alter file permissions this will not work. It will appear to work, but upon refreshing the FTP list of files you will see that the permissions remain as they were. You will have to use your web hosting control panel's File Manager facility to alter the permissions. Vger

♥Vger
I'm open to take bets that they've got the server incorrectly set up so that all permissions are owned by Apache. I have, unfortunately, seen this too many times for it to be a joke any longer. Vger
