Melissa Baker
I have tried searching on this but wasn't able to come up with anything. I have the latest version of osCommerce running on a site. On this page of the knowledge base it shows the way the module should display. http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/A...ing_Modules/229 But when in the admin panel it does not show the module weight unit like in that image. The module is calculating weights higher than they should be. My client is concerned that it will turn people away from buying products if the shipping is too high. Any solutions/suggestons? Thanks in advance.
stashandstuff
The module is calculating weights higher than they should be. Have you entered your weights as pounds and/or fractions of pounds? What do you have for your tare weight? Are you adding a processing fee for each carrier? These are things that can artificially inflate your shipping costs. Melissa Baker
Thanks for your quick reply. The weight should be in kilograms or grams but it doesn't display. It is listed like: 0125.00:3.00,0500.00:7.00,1000.00:13.00 No processing fee that I am aware of.

I fixed it by setting the Tare weight to 0 in Configuration -> Shipping/Packaging, and set the percentage increase for larger packages to 0 as well. Also make sure you're not adding any taxes to the shipping under Modules -> Shipping -> Table Rate

No processing fee has been added, that remains as default settings. Weights have been entered as metric units and postage table rates set as per advice found in Knowledge Base. In the Knowledge Base it shows a box, offering kilos or pounds weight unit, but that option is not apparent at the moment.
