starynightskyz Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 HI all. I figured out the way I would like my site to look in html. Now I would like to use the html site. because it is unlikely that I can get the oscommerce site looking the same. As Much As Id love to. But I love the oscommerce shopping cart. Is there a way that these two can be intermingled ? Nancy :D http://www.smeils.com/smeilsfinal/home.htm
Wendy James Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Why couldn't you get that to work in an oscommerce store? It's not that complex. Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
Jack_mcs Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 You can add a link on your html page to your shop. However, they will be treated as two sites. So if the customer switches between the two, they may lose the SID for their cart. This can be frustrating to a cusomter if they have spent much time filling it up. Still, I've seen many sites doing it this way. The better way is to just have the shop of course. It can be made to look like the page you have now but would require a lot of work. starynightskyz Posted July 11, 2005 Author Posted July 11, 2005 Well hmm, you both know your way around oscommerce alot. And I'm convinced I should do the cart in the oscommerce cart. and I'm not affraid of a lil hard work And I would really love to create the perfect cart. ( atleast perfect from my point of view ) So... If you both have that extra LARGE. Extra strength bottle of Advil handy I'm going to challenge you both. To help me go from this: My Starting Point To this End Result What do ya say? Are you up to the challenge ? I'll start by getting rid of the tacky background. and getting rid of the right column :D probably after that, I'll need some direction Nancy :D
Jack_mcs Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 The oscommerce shop is broken up into sections: header, left column, middle column, right column and footer. If you attack the problem one section at a time, it will go much easier for you. I would first set the background to match your end result. Then do the header and so on. Feel free to ask here should run into a stumbling block. Jack <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jack, I have my site set up with html pages and oscommerce cart and got very nervous when I saw your reply so I checked to see if that was a problem on my site. I put a few items in the cart and then moved around a few html pages then back to the catalog and the items were still there. Here's my site: www.gottahavitny.com

What i wanted to do was have all the images and descriptions in HTML and link it so when its added to the cart. go to the back end of the cart process. I hope that makes sense? Nancy :D
