How to add fields requiring customer input

vptuning

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I have recently added new products to my shopping cart. Due to the nature of the products, I need to obtain additional information from my customers to help process their orders.

Here is what I mean.

Customer would like to purchase Product A.

To complete the purchase, Customer must also provide information such as "Parameter A, Parameter B, Parameter C, etc". This will help me know which product version is required.

How can I best implement this feature? I would like to retain the customer inputs either with the order information, or as part of the customer account details.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe im retarded, not sure i completely understand your question. But couldnt you just use Product Attributes? For example product A is a shoe, and you need to add sizes to product A.. so

parameter A = 6

parameter B = 7

etc

To do this just go to "Product Attributes" under the catalog menu in admin. Add the parameters you want, then add them to the products you want. You may also want to check out New Attribute Manager in the contribution section, makes it easier to add attributes to products.

I apologize if this isn't what you're looking for.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it!

Although I understand how the product attributes work (I use the feature extensively for other products), what I need is the ability for the user to enter information. For example:

parameter A = 2039203

parameter B = 2023024

The parameters are specifically vehicle identification numbers (VIN) as well as other relevant (and unique) digits.
