Hello everyone. I think there is something wrong with oscommerce. I always get an error while trying to edit the index.php. I have installed 5 fresh copies and they all get errors. They get errors even if i change one letter. For example: This is the default...If I change it from the index.php to: This was the default...it says that there is an error. I don't know what is wrong. Will someone please help me? this is very urgent.

The best tool to edit php files is PHP Edit it is availanle as a free trail or if you want to you can purchase it. some word prossesors change the files by takeing away // or \'s or '\s (<-one of those) from the file you are editing which can cause those errors to happen.

don't you just go to the admin to edit it? that's what i do. Is there something wrong with that?

There is a bug in the admin editor which will cause errors....

Use a ftp program to download and upload files and edit them in a php editor program.

This is very weird. Everytime I try to edit some words, it gives me an error. But, if i copy and paste yours, it works. I don't get it. What am I doing wrong?
