osCommerce

The e-commerce.

I don't think Amazon will worry - feedback?

Peer review is brilliant ...... you don't have to agree with, or even like it .... but it makes you think hard about what you're doing.

So, the observations were valid .... and I've worked a new theme through.

The new improved version

Again, feedback would be great.

You're colors are still 100 times too dark. That green is unbelievably hard to look at. The header and logo still looks homemade. The stock fonts still look horrible.

Again, you might consider using a professional design, and integrating it into your oscommerce.

I Like the front page. Just enough information and the new products are showing right away.

What I was looking for on the frontpage was information about shipping.

Just quick notes would do great, or a link to the shipping information in the introtext.

OK ..... I'm being patient ... colours are very subjective and if everyone bought a template, the Web would be an incredibly dull place.

It's lightened up ... does anyone apart from W & W like it ...... at all?

The Absolutely Final Version (maybe)

Okay, you can ask anyone, I'm terrible at colors but.....I really don't like the colors of your link buttons. They just don't go with the colors of your Recent Additions section. Those colors look nice with your header but your buttons just don't do it for me. And they look a little flat. Maybe something more with highlights or a 3-d look.

I also think your logo looks a little off in size compared to the rest of the header. Maybe make it a little smaller to line up more with your Home line.

But overall I think it's a nice store.

Sorry logo is rubbish, the text on it has jaggies and it doesnt fit in with the rest of the site design. Looks like it's just been shoved in there.

"Welcome to the scottish-book-shop.com. We stock a hug...." is a different font from other parts of the site, as is "Usually dispatched within 24 hours"

Most of your products names are uppercase, exception "The Oor Willie..." case should be used consistently throughout.

Products listing, as Billy Connolly would say it's not yellow its YELLOW. Arrrrgh my eyes my eyes, need to pop outside to look at the sun for while to fix them.

Seriously though the colour yellow does not go.

The colour used in the boxes on "My Profile" are much nicer and fit with the scheme, use that and slighty darker shade of it for the alternate rows.

Creating an account:

Postcode should come after county, state/province

County, State/Province are both required fields. What would a customer outwith the USA enter? and vice versa

get rid of those stock osCommerce images

"Tax Charges

As a small business, we do not charge VAT. For European customers this is GOOD NEWS. It is one of the reasons why our CD charges are so competitive.

What CDs.

Although I do find the following funny

"Postal Charges

Mmmmmm .... how do we present this information so that it is easy to understand?

Book Shipping

OK, this is where your PhD in Physics is going to come in handy. We aim to ship orders within 24 hours of receipt."

and

"Guarantee

We are small (as a business. Individually, one of us is nearly six feet tall), "

but not sure what sort of impression that is going to give the customer.

Good News!

I like the orange color alot better!

Bad news, it still looks amaturish.

and if everyone bought a template, the Web would be an incredibly dull place.

I think you are misunderstanding here. The point is, you should have a design created by a professional. Do you think that people will so easily trust an online merchant that won't even spend the money to have a professional design made?

Trust me, I couldn't design anything better than you have here, but I recognize that fact, and I make sure I have designers come up ith something for me that will make my sites look professional, and then I integrate them into OSC.

MikeG ... thanks for pointing out our wee mistooks ... all corrected ....

Honest folks .... THIS IS THE LAST RE-SKIN .... PLEASE TELL ME IT'S BRILLIANT ...

THE QUITE FANTASTIC RESKINNED STORE

W & W ... you'll hate it ... too dark (but I appreciate what you say about design).

BRILLIANT, what can I say.

Okay serious now,

Header much better, although I would probably not have the text as green, might be better a white/off-white. Maybe even use a nice font rather than arial? as its an image. And Mr Burns is looking a bit psychadelic.

I would get rid of the olive colour, just use the same brown colour of your categories. And that bile green colour :x . I would go for a paler brown colour.

The yellow mouse over on your links, maybe change to that darker blue colour in the surrounds. The little green dot that appears on mouse over spoils the look.

But looking much better.

This is the best of the bunch, bar FAR. I like the header alot, although I agree the font is plain. I don't like the shopping cart, my account, and checkout images in the header nav. Nor do I like the font in the header nav. I think the search, and left side menu are ok, but the right side of the menu buttons look out of place being rounded like that.

The infobox headers look plain and blocky. and you could use a product image background, to make the product images look a little better.

Better than your first attempts, for certain.
