jamescalvin Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hey all, I just had a really quick question. My hosting company doesn't use MySQL just SQL. Would I still be able to install an osCommerce template on my server or does it have to be MySQL? What would be my alternative? Thanks Web Development, 365... 366 in a leap year.

Thats not a DB product but the langauge used by many databases out there for querying etc. Do you mean MS SQL (which is Microsofts offering in the DB world). Anyway, you can use other databases but it would probably need re-coding of the database class code to do it. If you're not up to the task you have 2 options 1) Move to a host which does support MySQL 2) Hire someone to rewrite the database class (and rewrite the db installation script) Option 1 sounds best
