Well, the first thing you probably want to do is go to start >> control panel >> add/remove programs and completly uninstall MS Frontpage. Seriously, this application isn't going to help you much here. The first things you are going to need are a FTP program, and a real text editor. This is not going to be a 'drag and drop' sort of thing.

First, if you have telnet access, you need to ftp upload the zipped package to your webserver, telnet in, and unzip them.

If you don't have telnet access, unzip them first on your desktop, and then ftp them up to your webserver. Then navigate to the install file through your web browser. That should get your installation started.

If you have any questions, or any difficulty, fell free to send me a pm. I do free installs.

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

Thanks for your response.

Is there a conflick with front page? I have 3 sites done with this softwear. I have not made that leap to dreamweaver or adobe, can't quite get the money.

I do have IPswitch. but no real text editor. can you recommend one? Least expensive but easy to use if possible.

I do not have telnet access and I am having a problem unziping them to my desktop. My computer can't find a compatable program to open it with.

Thanks for helping me out. sorry for being so ignorant but hopefully this will change fast. Have to start somewere.

If you are running windows try acehtml and aceftp both are free and work very good..

They can be downloaded at:

It would seem that i am a rare breed.

Or that because FrontPage is Microsoft it is not liked.

Well i have been creating my site, both normal html and osCommerce intergrated.

And guess what i use?

You got it FrontPage.

It works fine, as long as your server has frontpage extensions.

I find it so much easier that dreamweaver or even just notepad.

If you use frontpage to upload your files already, then it makes sense to continue to due so. Otherwise you will be:

1. Using a test editor to edit the .php files

2. Save those files

3. Goto an ftp program to then upload those files

4. Jump back to the text editor to re-edit...You get the idea.

I was doing this method, using both dreamweaver and notepad. Then still sending the files using frontpage, from my identical offline site.

Now dreamweaver i still use as it shows the table layout of a .php file if it has tables coded in.

The problem with frontpage and dreamweaver and anyother like program is it will not show you your web pages as they would displayed online.

For that to happen you require .......This is where it becomes a bit hazy for me.

Basically from what i gather you turn your desktop into a server, or something like that. I tried then gave up.

If you are happy uploading your file you have just worked on everytime you want to see the changes, then frontpage WILL do the trick.

If you want to see your site offline, then i will pass that to someone that knows.

This is just my opinion and its a method that works well for me.

Thanks for the help. I was able to get the os commerce to upload on an extention to my page. problem is being I am so new I don't know how to edit the graphics to make them my own. I have seached and seached and can't find out how to change the OS commerce to my own logo. the site seems to be working ok so far with the frontpage extention but being that I put it into a subdirectory maybe it was able to by pass the extention. Thanks again for all your help. If I need to down load the OS commerce site to do changes does any one know if I can down load it to my front page? Do I need a HTML editor? If so any recommendatios on a free one. I know everyone hates front page but thats all I know, we have deadlines and no money to hire a profecinal. So Me and my front page are it until our products start paying off
