Adding color options

I have a number of items that are available in anywhere from 8-30 colors. If I'm doing it correctly, I'm adding a attribute name for each, an option value for each, and then having to link each option with each value (approx 100+ thus far). Is there an easier way??? I've also noticed that ALL option values are displayed, not just the one tied to the option box - which doesn't make sense to me. For example, I add the following:

 

Options;

Prod A colors

Prod B colors

Proc C colors

 

Option values

Prod A red

Prod A white

Prod A blue

Prod B magenta

Prod B yellow

Prod B cyan

 

Products

Prod A --- Prod A colors --- Prod A red

 

This last section displays ALL colors, NOT just Prod A colors. This has caused a lot of confusion, and it seems like it would be MUCH easier to simply specify Prod A can use Prod A colors. As is, I can accidentally list colors that are only available on Prod A, and I have 100+ color combinations now specified for 4 products...

 

Am I overlooking something simple here?
