geekster Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I have opened a new store which went live about a week ago. I am still working on it most particularly inventory at the moment. I would love to have some feedback on it as this is my first substantial website and certainly my first ecommerce site. I have no experience to fall back on so would appreciate any insight you may like to share. This store sells new and used children's clothes and is rather casual. I am most particularly concerned with the front and catalog front pages. I want to have the content and such on the front page but what do I do with the catalog front? I am rethinking my strategy and would love any help you could lend me! I am also rethinking my strategy on the categories pages. I didn't use images but would like to know how others perceive the pages. I welcome SEO advice as well. My site Thank you Sandra
Guest Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Just a couple of quick thoughts: IMHO The colours on the menu and catalog pages clash.... glaringly The menu text is too small Why don't you provide a link to your eBay ID ... make it easy for people to check you out The top graphics area is very sparsely populated ... needs to be more interesting There's a lot of wite space at the botto of the page ... for no good reason Hope that's useful.
hubcat Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Hi, You've already got a login box on the catalog home page, so definitely get rid of the "Welcome Guest..." line. On your Member sign in page, the white spacers are showing up against your gray background boxes. It looks odd. I don't really like the categories with just text names. Ideally, pictures of kids/babies in those age ranges would be cool. But even if that is too much work, try working with your stylesheet so the category name link text is bigger and fancier. By the way, how do you like the NotifyList.com newsletter option? Is it working out well? Thanks, Adrienne
