Customized Shipping Solution

I am looking for a customized shipping solution and have looked high and low on forums and contributions. I was hoping one of you would be able to direct me in the right place for this contribution.

 

Here is what I need my shipping setup to do with osc...

 

I use the UPS shipping methods to be displayed per order depending on the items in that order. Some of the products we sell are perishable, but we also have some that are not, so here is a sample of our order:

 

Bread $2.00 (perisable)

Glass Jar $8.00 (not-perishable)

 

Total: $10.00

 

I need this shipping system to see that the bread (setup per item) may only be shipped by UPS 2nd Day or faster and the Glass Jar may be shipped by any UPS shipping method. It would find the common denomonator and only allow the select of UPS 2nd Day or faster to ensure they both may be shipped together, but in time so that the bread will not get moldy.

 

Likewise, if the Glass Jar were shipped on its own as the only item ordered, it would allow all UPS shipping methods because the glass jar will obviously not go bad.

 

If anyone knows how I could do this, it would be greatly appreciated. We are currently using Miva Merchant and this solution is slow and expensive. I like the easy interface of osc and would like to use it.

i could really do with the solution to this too!

my shop sells perishable items too, although most on 30days. but some of them can only be distributed nationwide, not abroad, for their short expiry date, and so far i haven't been able to differentiate and resorted to a big sign that reads "only available to nationwide delivery"...
