Guest Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Is there anyway to get it so i can process credit cards through paypal or any other service without having to redirect my customers to a form on paypal to transmit the data, something where the person enters the credit card info on my site and then the backend sends it to paypal and gets the confirmation for the order and then the user is taken to a confirmation page on my site?
♥Vger Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 If you are on a shared server the first things you'll need are a dedicated ip address and full ssl certificate. You need the dedicated ip address for the full ssl cert to run on a shared server, and you can't expect to take people's credit card details without any SSL or on a shared SSL. Next thing you need to do is to update the Credit Card module in osCommerce (see Contributions), because as it stands it's out of date and does not recognise some newer card numbers. Then you need to get a Merchant ID - this can take 6-12 weeks and you'll need to have a bank history in good standing for a period of time. Once you have your Merchant ID then you can either sign up with a bank based card processing system which allows you to take the details and then process them, or with a credit card processign company that will allow you to do that. Once you've arranged all that you have to interface your osCommerce website with the card processing system, which should take you only a few weeks and 10 years worth of hair loss, or else phone them in manually. Still want to do it? Vger
FalseDawn Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Then you need to get a Merchant ID - this can take 6-12 weeks Yikes, what merchant did you use? A good merchant should only take a few days to set up your account assuming you have all your documents and good credit.

Then of course was actually getting the cpi's to work... F5

I found plenty of add on mods. My retail site is using linkpoint api and it works well. My wholesale site is just gathering card info via the stock cc module and then I process them manually. Would you help me out and point directly to the contribution that updates the module in a stock oscommerce? Thanks, Tim

My merchant account with <blahblah> was set up in 2 days.
♥toyicebear Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 If you are in the US, there is a lot of complete pacakages available using linkpoint or authorize.net , you can have your merchant account up an running in a few days. Bothe the authorize.net and the linkpoint gateways have ready made payment modules for osCommerce. If you are outside the US, it will most likley take you quite a lot more time and hazzels to get going....... Guest Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I already got the SSL certificate and the dedicated ip. I'm willing to do all the stuff but would authorize.net let me accept credit cards and the authorize.net module is all based in oscommerce right? like the user isnt taken to a different site for the payment processing. Main reason is becuase i feel that being taken to a different site to complete the transaction is unprofesional and creates doubt so i want something fully intergrated for my clothing retail site. would 2checkout work? The main way i thought i was going to do it was through a hidden form to the paypal website that would transmit the information through the SSL, but i dont know if thats possible. With all the merchant ID stuff i think i might have a hard time since im 18 and this is my first real company appart from my web development company.
Enzo_UK Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 i feel that being taken to a different site to complete the transaction is unprofesional and creates doubtI think that as long you customise the look of the payment page to match the rest of your site, I dont think many people will notice. With all the merchant ID stuff i think i might have a hard time since im 18 and this is my first real company appart from my web development company.I got mine at 20 without any major problems, I had allready had a business account with the bank for about 6 months before hand, and there had been money going in an out, so had some sort of trading history. The only thing they did was to stick a 30 day deffered settlement on it, so that the bank held onto the money for 30 days before giving it to me, it was like that for the first year. From speaking to a few other people it seems quite common for new business that want an internet merchant account to end up with defered settlement.
