should the register globals files be replaced BEFORE the install?

is the admin password contribution better then using .htaccess?

I did install it without the patch and with register globals on just to get a feel for it

I dont mind the reinstall if the patch files need to be there before the install.

I didnt see any directions as to replace the files before or after.
