'On the Fly' Auto Thumb using GD v1.9

It works great, improves speed for people using 56k connection but affects the thin black line that is used in the shopping cart info box also along the top and botton of feature boxes like upcomming prods? All that appears is a litlle black pixel. Whats an easy way to get around this? I know that all / most of my images use html_output.php to be generated. Do i just have to go through all my php files and specify the gif file directly?

// Output a separator either through whitespace, or with an image

function tep_draw_separator($image = 'pixel_black.gif', $width = '100%', $height = '1') {
   return tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $image, '', $width, $height);
}

This is the section of code i need to fix. The DIR_WS_IMAGES part adds the resize to pixel_black.gif and gets rid of the 100% part. How can I add maybe a little bit of code to change DIR_WS_IMAGES just for this part?
