osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Disabling checkout?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I need to mod my OSCommerce so that it's *NOT* e-commerce enabled, at present. My client wants an online store which can go e-commerce in the future, but for right now, she wants a site which will have her entire catalog online, but wants customers to print out the shopping card and fax it in to her to place an order.

Her customers are all repeat buyers she's dealt with for years, so this may not be as obvious a problem as you'd think. It just gives them an online system for previewing and purchasing, in addition to the print catalogs they use already.

How would I do this? I basically need a shopping card that doesn't ever "check out," but instead prints out an order page which they can fax in, with their credit card information, to her fax number. Is there a mod that does this, or can i do it myself by disabling / adding some options?

Thanks,

Dave.

The only contribution that I know of is osC Catalog, but that won't give you any way to print an order page. I think that you can do this with just a little bit of work. Just remove the links to Checkout from the header and the shopping cart. You will need to add some text to the shopping cart page to tell the customer what they need to do, and boxes to enter their credit card information, name, address, etc. You might also want to remove links to the login and account pages, since I can't see a use for them in this situation. That should pretty much do the job.
