higgalls
you have to edit each product and add relation to others products to make it work in /admin/include/stylesheet.css put some style you want for the dependences table showed in categories.php /* dependences*/ .dependenceHeadingContent { font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #000000; font-weight: bold; } .dependenceTableRow { font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; color: #000000; font-weight: bold; } So are you saying that your dependancy mechanism needs you to go to the details of EVERY product (well mainly CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Video Card, CPU Cooler, HDD) and specify the actual type it is for EVER one of those products (so specify the socket it is or connection etc)? That system was available AGES ago in the paid version that Empo did. However, I did not find it any good because of the fact that you DO have to go and do it all manually. My thought would have been to have a keyword table for each category for the dependance mechanism to search through that table to try and categorise itself according to those keywords. Unfortunately I do not know how to do this (nor have the time). I personally have my products updated daily through some scripts I had developed to interface with my main supplier. So my database changes daily with product being added and removed daily. I know quite a few companies who do this that are using OsCommerce (and im sure would love to use PC Pro Creator). Anyway, just my thoughts. Cheers, Chris :)
pablosan80
yes i know its a kind of messy and complicated, but it was the solution that a client need... it can be implemented easily with categories dependence, if i have some free time i try to do it. Thank you anyway for the advices

Thank you anyway for the advices Ah, fair enough. I understand the need to make a client happy and give them what they want hehe. The other option would be to take that version and then create some more functions that would pull up a list of motherboards using my keyword idea, and then get the script to populate the fields with the appropriate data for the dependancy (but giving us the option of going through and confirming the results it found first). I hope that made sense. Cheers, Chris

nenad.bulatovic
I am using v2.3.3 beta by meisterbartsch I have a problem with decimal/thousands separators If I setup: - points for decimal points, and commas for thousands separators, everything works fine - commas for decimal points, and points for thousands separators, then sub-sum and total sum are withouth any decimal separators, so it looks like they are multiplied by 10 you can see it here: http://www.web-hosting-solutions.biz/compbuild.php Any solutions for this? Guest
No I sold only one copy ;)Why I dont want to distribute this one? Answer very simple -I asked ppl not to remove copyrights and they arent listen. So after that i saw couple of shops with pcpro without any notice of copyright I decide to stop distirbution of all my new developments... First of all your contribution was useless. All of the credits for contribution that works goes to [email protected], mrtqec, duch, DCP, mesiterbartsch, pablosan80, and all of the people who roughly tested this contribution and therefore become involved into development of this contribution. Many, many thanks for all of the 'coders' and all of the people who post through this forum. So, why should you anyone promote you and your company/website by keeping your "copyright" license..? You want shamelessly to took all of the credit for hard work of all other people? Yes, you wrote initial code, but then again that code was mostly useless. What are you doing now is that you read posts, download updates of this contribution and implement solutions of other people into your own code which you are selling. Even with latest version of this contribution, it must be customized for the specific needs of the each client. Why should anyone promote you and your website or your company? You made a copyright in such a manner that it looks like all of the credits go to you. Take a better look in GNU/GPL world, and even their recommendations, and you will see that copyright is something that should be passed in between coders, not to the end users. Or more obvious, look how mesiterbartsch carried copyright: in text file, with notification about all of the version. that is the way to handle such things. You can find examples of that in millions of scripts. Usually in the beginning of the script file, or in separate txt file. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But, the REAL problem is: That you PROHIBIT DISTRIBUTION of this contribution. That is WHY people are removing your copyright notice. Your copyright license, the part that is prohibiting REDISTRIBUTION is complete contradictory to GNU/GPL license. Once when you already published your code, made it public available, under GNU/GPL license, you can't PROHIBIT distribution of same code. You CAN'T restrict rights of anyone who already has your code. Moreover, in your code, in your contribution, you are using other people code, realized under GNU/GPL. You CAN NOT take away other people rights, and by your free will prohibit distribution of merged code. If you want, then REMOVE all of the GNU/GPL licensed code from other people from your own work. So, once again, to be absolute clear, this is not an issue about charging any fees for your contribution by itself, customizing it, installing it, whatever. This is an issue about violation the basic principles of right to free distribution of code/software realized under GNU/GPL. My personal opinion is that you just wanted to promote your self, here on osCommerce contributions section. That is why you uploaded your contribution, and your plan was that people come and ask you for paid version. Shame on you! Read this if you don't know what GNU/GPL is. http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html You have been reported to GNU/GPL foundation for violating of basic principles of GNU/GPL license. Not to the osCommerce development team, because they have nothing to do with you, but to the GNU/GPL foundation. http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-violation.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note for empo: alias Maxim Boldwer http://www.faxu.co.il/ http://misron.co.il [email protected] I do hope that any of the developers who are developing this contribution will REMOVE your license. If they do not, I will personally write this contribution from scratch, remove all of your mostly useless code and the upload it as clean non-copyrighted and distribution prohibited contribution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note for Stonebridecomputing: Stop mentioning that there is a "empo's" commercial version. It is obvious that you are promoting him. There are other people who also rewrite this contribution ages ago, and they do also sell their version of this kind of contribution, but they are not using forums as their advertise space. You can find their "one&only with link posts" in these forums. Even the contribution based on this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Note for developers and everyone who post in this topic: Keep up the good work. Many people is grateful to you for your work. THANK YOU. Note for everyone: I will not reply to any post about this issue. This is not the place for flamewars. If you want to discuss with me you sent email to [email protected] Note for administrators of this forum: please excuse me for posting about this issue. As a long term contributor in Feee Software & GNU/GPL community I am offended by this rude violating of basic principles of GNU/GPL

I have simply stated that he did another version (which I have also stated has parts of it that I DO NOT LIKE - for example I hate the new dependance mechanism he did in it). I have not provided links for people to purchase Empo's version, and I do not even suggest that people go out and purchase it because development on here is going well, and I don't like paying for software as much as the rest of people on here, so if you can get free open-source, then I am all for free open-source. I can see that you probably came on here and created a new username just to have a go at a few specific people (including myself). How about you have the balls to reveal your identity instead of hiding in your crappy little corner in your own insecurities. The only thing I have done in this thread is to offer suggestions for improving it (which have been taken up). By the way... just for your information, Empo was not releaseing his PAID version under GPL, so he has every right to charge whatever he wants for it, and to insist that people keep the copyright on the PAID version. Yes he cannot say whether people include his copyright in his free GPL version or not, which is why he stopped the free development. Now I don't know Empo from a bar of soap. Yes I have checked out his paid version, and yes I declined in purchasing it, and yes I DO NOT encourage people to purchase it as the free version still continues here. So... next time, before having a go at me, how about you actually find out what your saying first. In no way am I connected to Empo, and in no way am I promoting his product. I have simply stated that another version existed. THATS IT. There is a such car called a Toyota Corolla. Wow - I just stated that it exists - Am I now promoting Toyota? Every little here and there you are mentioning "empo" commercial version. And few times you are mentioning something alike "that is implemented into empos commercial version AGES ago.". Now, tell me that it is not his promotion? And few times you treat with ridicule some posters once again comparing poster's contribution, advice, hack against empo's commercial version. And there is no need to post his link, he published his email, and in everty copy of this contribution there is link to his website. How convenient, indirect advertisement. This post was not about his commercial version, which I don't have, but about his GPL/GNU version which he published here, in osCommerce contribution section. Release your testosterone somewhere else and then read post carefully. And you should better think twice before you say something. BTW you post about 'cache' is not correct. All that has to be done is to put "/tmp/" in Admin section, cache control. With "777" privilegies. From unknown reasons anything different from "tmp" won't work. Not even "temp". With "777" privilegies. From unknown reasons anything different from "tmp" won't work. Not even "temp". /tmp/ is a directory in *nix which is lower than EVERYONE's hosted account. It is shared amongst ALL people on the same server. Because it is shared problems can happen. The reason you cannot change it to "temp" is because a directory does not exist of that name in the root of *nix. Creating your own "tmp" directory in your own hosting account and then changing the configure.php to the FULL path to it does work. I use it, and I have seen many others on these forums resolve problems by doing this. Regards, Chris

Cache Directory: /tmp/ I was not speaking of creating and using tmp directory one level below 'root' of server. No one can use it, unless he is system administrator. Most of server control panels create set of directories per website users, and there is no interaction between their directories. So, if you specify /tmp/ in osCommerce it is assumed that it is located under root of website, not the root of server. We are speking about osCommerce instalation and maintenance not about server issues. www.mywebsite.com/catalog/tmp/ What I was going to say is that it can't be /temp/ but it has to be /tmp/ directory. (In configuration ---> Cache Directory) and phisically on server, in website (webshop) one-level-below-root directory) From unknown reasons, if someone create /temp/ directory and declare the same in "Configuration -->Cache Directory" problems might occur. Checked on many installation of osCommerce. Altouht that does not means that there are no exeptions. I am using this solution, and I know other people who are using same scheme (on servers with shared hosting, multiple accounts, mulitple websites)
Guest
P.S. tmp directory in server environment, speaking of *nix servers is actually on HIGHER level than anyone's account. websites reside in ROOT*/var/www/account1 etc. and tmp is located in ROOT/tmp there are also servers with ROOT*/var/home/account1 configurations , which depends on whether apache is executing cgi scripts in suexec or not etc., etc. ... *ROOT here means root of server, not the root account
Stickle
Hi all, I?m having one or two problems with this script. Well not with the script exactly but making it to meet my needs. Basically I am working on a site for Karts and have various sections that have many options. I have reduced the 12 options that were on the compbuild.php and reduced it to 4 times, which is which works fine, I have this working on one of the sections no problem. Now comes the tricky part, I now only need 1 option on another page within my site, and so altered the coding to reflect this. It appears to interpret it fine because it displays the 1 line, but sometimes the menu wont drop down, or if it does drop down, it wont allow me to select items, it appears to screw with the Javascript in some way. The lines of code I removed to achieve this were:- print_field('<?php echo TEXT_MOTHERBOARD ?>',1); print_field('<?php echo TEXT_ASSEMBLY ?>',2); Also the code for this particular page is...... <?php require('/includes/application_top.php'); switch ($HTTP_GET_VARS['action']) { case 'add_products' : $products_count=explode("::",$_POST['recid']); $products_qty = explode("::",$_POST['ammount']); for ($i = 0, $n = count($products_count); $i < $n-1; $i++) { $cart->add_cart($products_count[$i], $products_qty[$i], $HTTP_POST_VARS['id']); } tep_redirect(tep_href_link($goto,'')); break; } $table="compbuild"; $currency_symb_query = tep_db_query("select symbol_left, symbol_right, decimal_point, thousands_point from currencies where code='".$currency."'"); $currency_symb = tep_db_fetch_array($currency_symb_query); if (file_exists( "/build/config.inc.php" )) { require ('build/config.inc.php');$files=1; } else { if( mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SHOW TABLES LIKE '".$table."'"))==1){ $exist=1; }else{ $exist=0; } } if (($files!="1") && ($exist!="1")) { echo "<center><br><br><br><b> <font color=red>Configuration File not Found</font><br> Please upload file or choose different storage type"; exit(); } if (($files=="") && ($exist=="1")) { $bcomp_query = tep_db_query("select * from " . $table . bakerjca
Hey guys, Was wondering a few more things. 1. Is it possible to remove all quantity bars? 2. Why is it whenever I select something in the third row, then go to change something in the first or second, it removes my selection in the third? 3. Is there anyway code validation for each row so that the customer HAS to pick all rows? Not just, lets say CPU, Hard Drive, and thats it. I think this is a great mod! I have installed the latest version, but i have a problem with the comma... it just doesn't appear! So the prices are 1234 Euros instead of 12,34 Euros! Does anyone else have this problem? I tried to solve it, but no way! Edu

If your price in store is 12,34 is must be 12 to work with ppc. Sorry for my english, i hope to understand what i say.
