Guest Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I have sitemap.php on my server. I wanted to create the best sitemap for SEO. Is the contribution "seo sitemap" good ? Does anyone know if it will conflict with files I have already and or what the best way to go about creating a sitemap is?
Jack_mcs Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 That contribution works fine and doesn't conflict with any other contributions that I am aware of. But it does not create a site map for your visitors. You need to also install SiteMap MS2. Guest Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I see. Although the sitemap is really only needed for seach engines for rankings right? Should I only install the one for search engines? Also, I already have an .htaccess file and it says in the read me to make sure any of those files arent already on my server and could cause conflicts. Will the .htaccess file be affected since its linked to my seo friendly url contribution.
Jack_mcs Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 No, site maps are for visitors too. In fact, very few professional sites don't have site maps. It is considered proper design to have one. The fact that it aids the SE's is secondary. That's why I said they both should be installed. I don't understand the second question.
