Handle order email when mail server down

I'm newbie.

 

What happen if customer complete the checkout_process But the mail server down at that time (order will be logged but I need the order email instant)

 

How can we inform user that the system is down at the moment and please try to order again ?

depends upon the server, lots of hosts, if your mail server is down so is your site. it is all dependent upon what your host has configured.

Thanks Mibble , I've just wondering because the order has been logged but the email confirmation was not sent ??? (email wasn't cc to my email neither!)
