Help with Creating Database

Hi guys,

 

I'm really new to oscommerce, and have no idea about building the databases, a complet novice.

 

I have input my database server details, and now get this message:

1046 - No Database Selected

 

select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

 

[TEP STOP]

 

I have no idea what to do, i am informed i need to creat a database but have no idea how. i have access to phpmyadmin, but cant seem to make sense of how t creat a database. Can anyone help me on this, or help me create one?

Hi Sarah,

 

Did you follow the Web Based Installation Procedure?

 

If you are in a shared hosting environment, neither the osCommerce installation wizard can create a new database for you nor phpMyAdmin. You have to create a new database via the admin panel that your hosting company offers you.

 

(BTW: There are actually a lot of hosting companies that offer the possibility to install osCommerce only with a mouse click via their admin panel.)

 

After you've created the database successfully, you need to call the installation wizard at www.yourdomain.com/catalag/install/
