Removing image on main index page

On the main Index Page there is the headline: What's New Here?

 

To the right of it is an image of what looks like a guy behind a cash register.

 

How/where can I remove this image? What is the name of the image?

The name of the image is: table_background_default.gif

Replace it with a picture of 1 x 1 pixel with the same name or delete it and go to Admin - My Store - Images - Images required: false.
