Help TOTAL novice

Hi,

 

I've just recently installed oscommerce onto my web server and haven't a clue what to do next. I have no experience in HTML or programming or anything like that. My host assures me that anyone can set up a shopping cart easily, but I can't.

 

All I want to do is add my logo to the top instead of having oscommerce, change the colours and possibly change the font style (but that's not important).

 

Can anyone please help me using simple, clear, idiot proof instructions?

What you want to do is fairly simple as long as you can edit and upload files. Assuming that is not a problem:

 

- To change the logo, create the image you want to use in the gif format. Name it oscommerce.gif and upload it to the images directory of your site.

 

- To change the color or font, edit the stylesheet.css file. You will see where it shows the font size and color. Just pick one and start changing.

 

If you don't know how to download your files from your server, edit them and upload them again, you need to start there.

Thanks for the replies, now I roughly know what I'm doing (I think)

 

Everytime I click edit on the stylesheet.css file an error message pops up at the top of the page that says:

 

Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on:home/...etc I have no idea what this means or how to fix it.

 

So I can't edit any files, I also uploaded my logo into the images file but nothing happened?

Look below my name to where it says "Psst?? Got a parse error??" and this link will give you basic instructions on how to download and edit your files.

 

Also, when adding text to a file be aware that all apostrophies used in text must be escaped by a preceeding backslash (or parse errors will occur). For instance:

 

Let's = wrong

Let\'s = right

 

Vger
