Do cDynamic Meta Tags v1.0 and Header Tags Controller have the same effect on the search engines?, or which one is more effective at improving a site's rankings in the search engines? Please do reply to this excellent question, thank you!

They will give you about the same result, if you do not want to make individual metas for every product choose the c-dynamic meta tags, if you have the knowledge and the time to add optimized keywords and description for every product, then you should choose the Header Tags Controller.

 

And besides its just inktomi who actually do take any serious notice of the meta tags.....

Meta tags are not used much by the SE's so they are not overly important, although they do count. In that respect, either contribution will do the job. However, the title of a page is very important if you want to get a good listing position and that is what Header Tags will do for you.

I am pretty sure the cDynamic Meta Tags does do the title for all product pages, is this different than header tags controller ?

Both header tags and c-dynamic gives you individual titles...actually that can be done just by a small line rewrite in product_info.php or alternatively by some 4-5 other contributions aswell.

I stand corrected if that is the case. Preferring Header Tgas myself, I don't use cDynamic Tags so I am not fully aware of all its features. Bottom line is that the page titles are much more important than meta tags. As long as you get those setup properly, whatever the method, you will improve the chances of your pages getting listed.
