problems with sending mails

Hi all

I have now installed PHP 4.3.11 and I also installed

a new store (osCommerce 2.2-MS2). Everything is working,

I can add products and so on.

I am working with Windows Server 2003 and IIS6.

I have a local smtp server which is working fine with

everything, exept osCommerce ...

I get the following error:

Warning: mail(): Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port"

I have for sure the right smtp settings ...

Please, I am happy about every comment on that !

Thanks

Frank

perhaps your mail sever is not "localhost"

do an mx listing for your mail server.

try changing your mail server setting to a FQDN.

that might do the trick...

Hi

Thanks for the answer.

I can change what I want, it is just not working ...

What do you mean with FQDN??

Best regards

Frank

FQDN...

Full Qualified Domain Name

like: instead of "localhost" you use "smtp.mynet.com"

and see if that makes a differnce.

also, do a:

$dig mx myserver.com

at a unix prompt and see what happns

or windows

c:\>nslookup

set q=mx

myserver.com

This sounds like a local install - in which case doing a 'dig' for records is not going to help. Try changing 'localhost' to '127.0.0.1' or another ip address you may be using locally.

Is this a local install (Intranet) or an online (Internet) install?

Vger

it is a online, Internet installation.

I have just tryed to send a mail with a little php script (mail function),

and it gives me the same error. so it will be a php issue than.

Go to your osCommerce control panel --> Tools --> Server Info, and this will list all facilities on yoru server including mail functions and port numbers used.

Also, when setting up e-mail addresses in your osCommerce control panel the standard advice for e-mail settings does not work with Windows servers. For instance this format is wrong:

Sales<[email protected]>

it should be just:

[email protected]
