justinb
Hi, I am working on a new install of Oscommerce, and on the admin side am experiencing fatal errors when trying to review pending orders. The entire order process (and checkout via paypal) work fine, but I am unable to then track orders (for instance, for fullfilment!!), which therefore is a critical issue. From the main admin page, clicking on "pending" in the left-hand column, causes an incomplete page to render with a fatal error, thus: Configuration Catalog Modules Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tep_admin_files_boxes() in /home/.garnet/netribut/netribution.org/shop/admin/includes/boxes/customers.php on line 22 Now, I have done both an forum search on the error (minus short words!!), and a google search, and spent most of the day looking through similar responses, though, having tried much of these, I have been unable to correct the problem. What I've done so far: Re-installed; Check all permissions (757) on all files (it wasn't, but I bit the bullet!) This also happens if you hit customers (same error), orders, processing and delivered (all from the main admin page...) Obviously, I have been through some of the code, and, at least to my untrained eyes, it appears it is defined! -- obviously I am wrong, but am unsure of my next steps, and any help, pointers and gentle hints would be most appreciated. Many thanks for your patients  Regards, Justin.
♥Vger
If you have set files to 755 then it's little wonder that your site won't work. You only set these permissions on the two configure.php files during the install - so that the install can write to them. Folder permissions need to be 755, but files should be set to 644, except for the configure.php files which should be set (post install) to either 644, 444 or 440 (depending on your server setup). justinb
Mmm, interesting, I have another Oscommerce set-up that works fine like that; however, will make the changes you suggest (it could be down to servers and stuff, and my other Oscommerce install is just a fluke; and I am willing to bow to your higher knowledge.) Will do those changes and report back. Much thanks for your time. Justin.
♥Vger
If you set permissions on files to 755 or 777 then some servers will just point blank refuse to serve up those files. In particular 777 would be a major security issue for your site and perhaps for other sites on a shared server. 777 would give read, write, execute permissions for everyone, while 755 gives read, write, execute for the owner, and read, execute for everyone else. justinb
Hi, Thanks so far for the suggestion, and I agree, 777 would be a bad move, especially in a shared environment!... Anyhow, have made the change, and, with regret, the same error reported as above :( Any other thoughts would be most appreciated. Kind Regards, Justin. justinb
Hi, er, again, Do I really have to give up on this and unistall OsCommerce? I know everyone is busy, but am absolutely stuck, and even a minor pointer or two would help me try to figure out a bit more. I know it must be something I have done wrong -- otherwise there would be a lot more postings on it -- but, for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is, and if one of the regulars here could have a read through this and see if they have some ideas, it would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks, Justin.
justinb
Hi, again. As no-one seems to want to help here - even if I know you are all busy - I was informed, after posting, that there was an unsuccessful install of the orderlist (v3.4) installed. So, in order to see how that is causing issues (or not), I have completed a reinstall of that contribution, following the readme fully, and, ahem, I still have the issue when clicking on any "customers" related admin link, but, strangely, not NOW from any Reports related link - so, to sum up: The shop is now useable (in-so-far as customers can be tracked!!!) BUT not all of the shop is actually working, which, obviously, is not filling me with confidence in OsCommerce. However, I like OsCommerce so much, I really don't don't want to have to recommend to my client that we use something else!!! Please Please Please!!! Can someone offer some thoughts on the messages above, and what might be wrong? Your help really would be most appreciated, as it is proving a complete stopper on this project (and for my blood pressure!) :) Kind Regards, Justin.
