Avondon Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Hi mY site is set up around the dropshopper mainly, all the orders I have had up to now which isnt many. have been the products she is supposed to be dropshipping for me. I had a customer once again ordering some of the products she is supposed to dropship for me. Butthey seemed to be out of stock, so I mailed her and asked her when she would be getting anymore of these items, she never repiled, i mailed her again, she never replied. I looked everywhere to find this product at the price we sell it for . There were none.I lost the customer. I had to refund her her money back. and still no reply from the dropshipper This means all the stuff on my site will have to go that she dropships. this only leaves me with a few products that at the moment i can afford to stock. what do I do can I sue her for losing me customers , or what , what can I do about her. HLEP.

Avondon Posted June 11, 2005 Author Posted June 11, 2005 Consult a Lawyer... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you serious? you really think i should contact a lawyer. ? I don't think they will do anything as its not thousands of pounds But i did buy my site with her based as the dropshipper.
FalseDawn Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Unless you have a signed contract that stipulates some sort of guaranteed service provision, you have absolutely no chance of any compensation. Learn from it, move on, and next time don't put all your eggs in one basket.
burt Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Well, think of it this way... (and please don't take this the wrong way!) You are asking a bunch of people that you don't know for advice of what you should do with regards your business... Would it not be better to consult a Lawyer ?

Would it not be better to consult a Lawyer ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tue Burt . but sometimes people just need a bit of advice from like minded people who are sort in in the same business. I am new to the business world. and yes Falsdawn I should not have put all my eggs in one basket . That is why I now stock some items of my own. Thanks anyway both of you !
FalseDawn Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Hmmm. Let's see - how much will consulting a lawyer cost? How long will they drag it out? For as long as they can, probably. Weigh that against what you think you have lost in time and sales (not a lot by the sound of it). Doesn't sound like a smart route to take IMO.
burt Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 FalseDawn, are you in the UK? Consulting a Lawyer in the UK is usually free of charge for the first hour, depending upon your circumstances. The poster was sold a site on the basis of the dropshipper, thus she has a valid claim for at least the cost of the website to be returned by the seller.

I just didn't know how to handle this person whom is supposed to be my dropshipper. perhaps the only thing I can and will be doing is to run as fast as I can. Just imagine if i had paid for the goods they never would have turned up. then I would have been looking at going to see a Lawyer to send letters etc. Sometimes thats all some people need to see.
FalseDawn Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 No - US at the moment. If it's free, then it would be worth it (maybe), but I still think there's little chance of success without a written contract.
Guest Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 I have contracts and agreements with all of my suppliers and therefore I would most definately consult my lawyer if this were to happen to me, but whether or not you should.. It comes down to whether or not you have any agreement/contract/etc. with the supplier and if so, whether or not they've actually broken part of the contract. Even with a written agreement, there are sometimes clauses which hold the supplier harmless in case of stock/quantity/backorders/etc. If you have a contract or agreement with them, review it and if you think they've broken/violated part of the contract/agreement, consult a lawyer about it. If you aren't doing much in sales though, I wouldn't even bother with it and would just find another supplier (or two, or three, etc.). I have 20,000 items at present and have several suppliers from across Canada and the US. I agree with the others in that you shouldn't rely on a single supplier. Unforeseen events happen at times and you don't want to find yourself out of business with nothing to sell because your sole supplier has gone under or whatever. With multiple suppliers, you may lose some of your product line temporarily, but will still be able to offer other items for purchase while seeking a new supplier to replace that one. ~James

Just like you ... you don't have to do business with anyone you do not want to. Maybe they feel you aren't doing the sales you are supposed to and it is costing them money to do business with you. Why don't you call instead of e-mailing and find out.
♥Vger Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 But i did buy my site with her based as the dropshipper. I have come across these sort of deals before, and they are nothing but trouble. Did you actually buy the site from the drop shipper along with the domain? Or did you buy it from a hosting company specialising in these sort of deals? I've even known it to be the case that you just lease the site and the domain, and so, when it comes right down to it, don't actually own a thing. I just hope you didn't get locked into any sort of deal where you have to keep paying for a set period of time. Vger

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On dropshippers, I have very good experience with my dropshipper i use for my site www.crystalworld.info and next month i will open another shop with another dropshipper. You will really have to go to the source where dropshippers are pre-selected. For more information on pre-selected drop shippers Click Here. Hope this will give you, and others interested, some idea.

Guest Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Please don't post affiliate links in public forums. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is how I came to know about dropshipping in another forum. I made use of the opportunity offered. It gave me inside in the world of shopping online, and drop shipping itself and ended up with osc. It helped me when I was lost and searching for something good. However, if you feel I should not share my excitement in online shopping etc and help those in the same who which to explore this further, like I did, I have no problem you remove my post. No bad feelings. Only sorry for those who are genuine struggling (like me) to find the right direction.
FalseDawn Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 I don't have the power to remove posts, and have no problem with links that are helpful. I would consider posting a link like yours as commercial advertising - the moderators of the forum seem to work to their own agenda and I really couldn't care less if they remove it or not...

I am a very easy person by nature.
