I found installing Ultimate SEO URL's worked wonders for my SE rankings when combined with all the other suggestions. You might want to start posting in product relevent forums also as they generate links back to your site when your URL is in the signature (just check each forum for their rules regarding signatures). Start doing all this now as it all takes time (several months) so the sooner you start the further ahead you will be when you launch your site. I would suggest putting aside a certain amount of time each day just for developing backlinks to your site. In a few months you will notice the difference.
