what do you think of my first attempt

My website

 

Went live yesterday!! :)

 

First off I know its pretty much stock OSC as far as layout goes but I like it like that.

 

This is my first attempt at designing/creating a website so go easy on me (even though it has taken me nearly 4 months to do!!)

 

Just thought I'd ask you experts out there what you thought?

 

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

one question though - how did you provide the option of proceeding to checkout without creating an account - I think this is an excellent feature as I always hate setting up accounts.

 

Any links/advise would be great

Very nice layout. Catergories on the left dont work. I get a "page not found error" Also on the right where you sign in, did you mean free shipping to NEW members or all members? Looks good, i obviously didnt get a chance to go through it more cuz the categories didnt work.

lovely colors and lots of work went into this!

 

I have a few ideas for changes:

 

Get rid of the welcome guest text ... it's way too stock and totally unnecessary. If you absolutely need to keep it, check out your layout, the nex two paragraphs don't align with it.

 

Do you really want your customers to login from a http page, with their password?

 

Why is there so much space above the first category?

 

If you change "We Proudly Accept" to "Proudly Accepting" it might fit in one line.

 

The links get almost invisible (color) when I hover over them in the boxes.

 

Can you place the credit cards on a tranparent background?

 

Sadly I can basically only view the home page, links are not working.

Thanks all,

 

I'm having some problems with it at the moment thats why the categories links don't work. Thoought I'd try installing Chemo's Ultimate SEO Urls but i think i already had some other SEO Url contribution on it and now its gone all tits up!

 

Been seraching the code for the whole site to try and remove the old code but not having much luck finding it.

 

Thanks again for all your suggestions i will try and make some changes as soon as i've fixed this

I've fixed the categories links so the whole site should be working properly now.

 

I've deleted the welcome guest text as suggested, put the credit cards on a transparent background, and changed the text above it.

 

The reason it stopped working on sunday was cause i tried installing Ultimate SEO Urls. The thing is, it looks like i've already got some kind of dynamic url generator in place but only if you click on the categories then click on the product.

 

Does anyone recognize this contribution and know how i might add Chemo's Ultimate SEO Urls to it?

much better already.

 

I know nothing about Chemos code, was about to install it but saw too many bugs ... will probably wait till it's stable.

 

On the products listing page, when you hover the headers disappear. The blue and yellow for the next pages do not match your colors at all, maybe you forgot to change those.

 

If you add a <br> tag in the listing split texts (next and displaying), you can control where a new line begins ...

Result Pages:<br> ...

Displaying 1 to 20<br>(of ...)

 

Not too keen on the category arrows. Maybe you can change it, a gazillion mods out there. Still so much space above the first category.

 

In the cart, the continue shopping button is not centered ...

 

there may be more but I have to run!
