osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Useful contributions

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'd just like to start off by saying that osCommerce has truely changed my life. I now find myself sitting infront of the computer all day everyday working on my online shop. Even though I've only been at this for 2 weeks !

Now... anyway...

If anyone out there can give me some sort of advice / direction it would be greatly appreciated.

The shop I have look towards as direction and am aspiring to have my shop function / look in a similar is www.vinylwarning.com.au

I believe they have the best shop out by far. ( But then again i probably havent seen yours.)

My shops address is www.melbourneshuffle.com.au/catalog

I have set up my shop with a few test products and made a test transaction, but even after looking through nearly all of the forum and contributions i am unsure about the credit card payments. Where does the customers money go??? Am i supposed to set up an account with my bank? Even then, how do i tell my shop to deposit the customers money into this account via admin ?

Secondly, if you have a look at vinylwarning.com.au notice they have a search for "out of stock" products, that way a customer can search products and be notified when they are back in stock. This is an awesome feature that i would really like.

And last of all, in vinylwarning, when you checkout they have an option for gift certificates, i saw this in contributions, but was confused beyond all belief as to which download i should go for as there are so many threads in there.

Hopefully you have read all the way through this and are able to shed some light / help me out with this.

Thanking you in advance.

David Travers.

If you do not have a merchant account and a pos solution you can not use this module.

A merchant account you can get at your business bank, a pos solution and/or a internet payment gatway you can get from several providers. (Usually your bank can tell you which ones, when you sign up for a merchant account)

If you get an internet gatway solution, you can process the creditcards directly online and get the money deposited into your bank account at set intervals.

Or....

You can sign up for a 3pp payment solution like for instance PayPal, install the paypal ipn module and you can then accept credit cards online.

2. The out of stock, search and notification feature i have not seen before..looks nifty but i do not know a module for this...But its not to difficult to make.

3. Credit Class & Gift Voucher - 30 May 2005 - CCGV v5.13d

Hope this helps...
