Ok, I have the site all done. Now I need to get it to be on top of search engines. Am I supposed to manually type in keywords on each page with html editor or is there a software that allows you to do that? by the way what are header tag controllers for, etc? If I have to do keywords by manually typing it....how do I do it for each category and manufacture page, etc? give me some advice...thanks.

The website is got2getfit.com if anyone is interested in looking at my site.

It sounds like you need the Header Tags Controller contrib. It enables you to add a page title, description, and keywords via the admin section for each page or category. It is also supported by the Easy Populate contrib.

Hope this helps.

Ugghh...I'm lost. So I just upload everything into the server and just do the tags via Admin panel?

Yes, that's it. The contrib package includes detailed instructions and also an autoinstall feature (which I haven't used). You may want to check out the support thread at http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51815 to get a better understanding and more insight into this great contrib.

Good luck and all the best.

Ok, basically I uploaded all the files. When I upload categories.php in Admin I get error when I look at admin page in oscommerce. So simply I just changed it back to my old one. What am I supposed to change after I upload each file in the server? I tried using the readme files but I'm lost.

By the way if I'm not supposed or have to change anything after I upload everything then i guess maybe its causing I'm still using oscommerce 2.1 and not 2.2?

You have to do quite a bit more than upload the files. Start off with uploading the database change. Then folllow the Install_Catalog.txt directions and then the Install_Admin.txt directions.

Can I do the database change and other changes using html kit editor? I do have phpmyadmin with my host but I'm not too familiar with php databases.

Ok, I copied the database setup.php in same directory as index.php....I typed http://www.got2getfit.com/database_setup.php and it gives me this error:

Warning: main(includes/application_top.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\hshome\rjcurtis\got2getfit.com\database_setup.php on line 13

Warning: main(includes/application_top.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\hshome\rjcurtis\got2getfit.com\database_setup.php on line 13

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='c:\PHP\pear;.') in D:\hshome\rjcurtis\got2getfit.com\database_setup.php on line 13

I'm still lost!

Are you sure that is the proper path to the file? All it is doing is loading a simple page so it shouldn't be failing like that. If you type in http://www.got2getfit.com/privacy.php, does it work?

Actually the privacy page is this: https://got2getfit.com/catalog/privacy.php?...f2689467a1e2571

I'm not exactly not sure where the database_setup.php should be but I put it under my main root directory....let me try the other index.php in catalog directory and it might work.

Ok, I put it in the http://got2getfit.com/catalog/database_setup.php and it worked. It says database sucessfully updated! Now let me play with the categories and see if I get it working.

Ok finally the categories.php works after I uploaded the database changes. Now I can go to admin panel and click on Edit in categories and it shows header title, description, and keywords, etc. I typed in the info and click on save but it shows that no file was uploaded but when I go back to the Edit button its still there. What would hte source look like for the header tags if I view source from my browser? So basically I uploaded the files and did the database changes so far.....what else?

You get that message about no file uploaded because there was no image uploaded for it. It is not an error in this case and can be ignored. As for what to do next, you need to read the instructions and do whatever they instruct you to do. you can skip any steps or it won't work, as you have found out.

Ok, I think I got it all working now. When you enter keywords do you seperate them by using space or commas? For example suppose the product is Sci-fit Cell Fit....give me example how to use that?
