Paypal is not a merchant account, but a 3pp, third party payment processor.

If you want to use an extra 3pp and your definition of integrated into osc is that the customer choosing the payment metode in your shop and then is sent to the payment processors payment page to complete the payment . (Same style as paypal)

Then you have a world of available payment systems to choose from.

Just start googeling..... :D

To get you started:

paysat.com

2checkout.com

stormpay.com

If you are US based and want to have your own merchant account and a payment processor.

Then you also have a world of options.....

To get you started:

charge.com

bluepay.com

cdgcommerce.com

Outside the us...

worldpay.com

toyicebear, thank you very much for taking pity on a relatively new store owner (10 months and growing)

Yea, I should have specified better. The whole being turned down thing was hard to take, especially after it took me hours to correct an install of the payment module (bastards)

Anyways, I like to have Paypal as an OPTION, but not a requirement. Just because I like using it at Newegg, doesn't mean I should force all thru that way. Plus from my order list, I keep losing sales because of it (can't comeplete the payment portion due to whatever with paypal)

I originally checked out echo because someone else said they had high customer service, but I had to jump through hoops to even apply. (Take pictures of my office and inventory too)

I am US based. Yes, I want to have my own merchant account / payment processor. I checked out the 3 you listed, and so far cdgcommerce.com seems like the best bet.

I'll post here to let you know my results.

Mibble, I'm in Tampa, Florida actually. I see that Nova uses 'CyberCash' gateway. Is that a '3pp' or a direct contribution simular to Authorize.net?

Thanks again

Cybercash is a dicontinued gateway, now owned by verisign. They do support it for exisiting customers, but strongly advise them to use Payflow pro instead.

If you wish to go for an easy integration, Authorize.net will probably be the one for you.

There are countless resellers out there who can give you Authorize.net and a merchant account at very good rates. (Even at 0 startup)

A good resource to check is this forum....

Another resource you may want to consider is to talk to your bank. Most banks (other than credit unions and small community banks) offer merchant services.

I would suggest shopping around like Nick suggested because you can usually find better rates than you local bank. But if approval remains a problem, the bank that already knows you may be easier to get approved by.

Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database.

Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.

Thanks again toyicebear.. I wish I had this info 6 months ago :)

Well, guess Nova will be out of the question. (lots o setup fees, Costco fee $100, Payflow $100 setup, plus some other fee).. atleast until I try another company or 2.

Anyways, I'm new to on trying to track down which are actually 3pp and true gateways which I can use with OsCommerce.

Just in case, PayFlow Pro a 3pp?

What about Linkpoint?

Also, after my experienc with Echo, I discovered if my products varry too much, I'll have to have multiple merchant accounts. IE, I sell CDs and Music on my site, but also want to offer Speakers and DJ gear / Services. How are these multiple accounts tied together? Would it affect my customer overall experience?

My goal, like most others, is to make the customer experience seemless as possible, to shop for everything (that I offer) in one website.

I use InternetSecure myself. I didn't have the best of credit (to say the least) either. With ISecure you can accept both USD and CAD payments.

Payflow pro

linkpoint

authorize.net

is all payment gateways and good ones at that, and you need a merchant account too...

You should be able to have cd/music/speakers/dj gear in one merchant account, if not you can split it into 2 accounts and use one gateway..

These companies can help you get set up early.

charge.com (Authorize.net)

merchantaccounts4less.com

cdgcommerce.com

If you can not get approved for your own merchant account then a 3pp is also a choice, examples of 3pp...

Paypal.com

2checkout.com

Stormpay.com

Paysat.com
