ValleyRoaster
Is there an easy way to change the directory to point to a copy of my current store so I can run tests of changes I make before going live with them? I have made a copy of my store and created a new folder to keep it in on my server. Now I want to get the links to my items and all buttons for normal store operation to point to this new directory. I have tried but I can't seem to find where to do this. I can type the address into my address bar and it is their right where I want it, I just want to find an easy way to get it running on it's own. Life Is Too Short, Enjoy Your Coffee! Iggy
Might be easier/better/faster to just use your local machine as the test bed? Oh, but check your config files for pathing issues if you want to do it this way. Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...
Guest
you should also create another database, then change everything in your configure.php files to reflect the changes
ValleyRoaster
How do I set up my local computer to do this? I am just a 2 year self taught rookie at this stuff! Life Is Too Short, Enjoy Your Coffee! Pete
Iggy
There are quite a few installers for windows (Apache, mySQL, PHP). I'll let others recommend some choices as I'm on a mac but be sure to get one using php4 as opposed to 5 or do some reading on php5 here in the forums. Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...
