Postal Code problem

In the Configuration Panel, I have set the 'Minimum' to '5' for the Postal Code. When I do this, customers keep getting errors that they enter 5 characters, but the error keeps saying they should enter 5 characters and I won't allow them to register an account. If I set the minimum to 'blank' then it allows the customer to enter their zip codes without an error, but then the order comes in and when I check the new customer account, no zip code is there.

 

What can I do to fix this? Thanks!

Not sure I understand you correctly, but if you set the "minimum length" for customer fields, then they are forced to enter at least this many characters in that field or they will get an error.

If you make the field optional, like I think you are doing by "seting the minimum to 'blank' " then it is quite possible that the field will be missing on new accounts.

 

Why not just set the minimum length to 1 - then they are forced to at least enter something, but it still allows cases where codes are less than 5 characters to be entered?
