julianpuje
I have my site up and running and not going to badly at the moment. However, i am about to start working on a replacement. I want a complete design change. Although my site is doing OK, i think it could do better, and lacks that "professional" touch in terms of look and not function. I am looking at using STS. So my questions are these: Is it relatively simple to use as it's name suggests? Is it easier just to code the changes rather than use STS. I fancy giving it a go if it's going to help with what i am trying to achieve, just need a bit of feedback from current users on how they find it. thanks in advance. A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. It is relatively simple, but to make anything "out of the ordinary" takes double the work. An example would be to add a loginbox on the index page which (when logged in) disappears - and instead shows the "account" links. Simple using ordinary osCommerce. A quick "if/else". Not so simple using STS: Code the if/else translating it to an STS "block", then include the block in the page. Basically doubling your workload. http://blogs.oscommerce.com/burt/index.php...owentry&eid=106 for more in-depth discussion.

So far, I like the way it works. It does require a little back end work the further you want to customize the pages, but it's much, much easier than editing actual files in OSCommerce. The set-up was reletively simple and I had no problems with it. So far, I like that STS makes it easy to run an OSCommerce cart and make it *not* look like one.
