Guest
My own site www.crystalworld.info is live and all thanks to the osC Community. I couldn't have done it just on my own. By reading, and again reading, following the suggestions by you all, I managed to setup the site with almost no problem. The key to it all was, reading, searching, trying, and again reading of EVERYTHING what was said in the forum and just doing it. With the help of some great contributions, I implemented: 1. USPS 2. Paymate (Australian) 3. Credit Gift & Voucher and more... 4. Guestbook It seems working as it should. Just browse around, try the Discount feature to redeem a discount. Discount Code is: fa02c9 which can be redeemed at checkout. Please visit the guestbook and leave a comment. Thanks.
FSUddin
I liked your website. I did not try the discount feature, but just checked out the overall look/feel. I think you should change the red color both in the top banner and in the borders to match the borders in your infoboxes. The nice gray/blue color goes well with the crystals in my opinion. Also, if you can change the stock oscommerce graphics in the upper right, that would be nice too. Overall, I would go for a simple and clean look for what you are selling. Guest
thanks. That is what i like with crystal. clean and simple. I found out that the majority of shoppers wants a simple catalogue where they can browse with ease. Thanks for the suggestions. I am playing with colours at the moment, and spend every day a few hours with it. I need indeed change the stock oscommerce graphics but need to find them. Please, check for me the discount feature and report if that is working properly or not from outside (I mean, it worked from here at my pc). The stock blue/grey doesn't work well with your read header line. It's a very stock installation, so you ought to at least customize it a wee bit more. Otherwise you are right, it is a very easy to navigate site, which is nice. "People tell me I have an inferiority complex. They must be right; after all, they are all smarter than me." Will get to it tomorrow (it's very late here in this partr of the world - AU) and let you know. Thanks for the suggestions. This is in fact my first try. A second project is coming up next month. Guest
O.K. have done a lot of editing and got rid of most of the stock. Only 1 thing is puzzling me. top navigator where it says "home" has a breadcrumb next to it like "home>>" When i try to remove it and check one of the categories I get e.g. "homeanimals", no breadcrumb at all. It should give "home >>animals". Any ideas? Have searched for this over the last few days. Please review www.crystalworld.info again and check if more editing is needed. Everything seems to work, incl. USPS, checkout, emails, etc. the lot.
brooklyn
Nice site - a few ideas: Why do you have the currencies box if your choice is only $? I would make the banner clickable so you can go back to the home page. And I think the text on the home page is a bit big, it makes it difficult to read ... but maybe that's just me  Good luck

In the Navigation Bar there is a "home" link and the banner is not really a banner but a text. This is done for search engine purposes. However, I moght indeed have a link on the pictures which is shown at the top right. Still need to get the "Alt Tags" done properly. Regarding the text on the home page, I think you might be right. I had it smaller before but then I wanted it to line up with the slide show. Will play around with it and maybe add some text to it. Thanks for your evaluation brooklyn, I appreciate it very much. Any little hint or idea, how small it may be, might further the overall outlook of my shop. There are still a lot of little things I need to do. Guest
deffinently need to install a thumbnail contrib, 40kb+ images are not good for shoppers. Jud <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Jud, What do you mean with thumbnail contrib. The products show pictures of no more then 8 - 10KB except the slideshow which are bigger in size. Can't get around that as these slideshow pictures have been edited to a min. acceptable for clarity in PS.

piaposa
hey, i see you used USPS i'm having trouble with it... it wont work on my oscommerce... I contacted a lot of people with the same problem and none of them have realized how to solve it. I have my USPS account set up to production by USPS and in my oscommerce backend... but it wouldnt work either when it was on test mode. What were the steps you followed to install it correctly? maybe i'm doing something wrong,,, did you have to install any contributions to make USPS work correctly? i set up my shipping module, put my user and password ,selected production mode; and entered my location zipcode in my store configuration area... when my customers go to my website (www.bestartisans.com/shoppingcart) and they try to buy something they get this message on step one (shipping options) United States Postal Service An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations. If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner. any clues? Thanks!!! Mary, in need of desperate help

I had been struggling with it too. It took me a week to sort it out with trying, reading ALL the posts on this subject, failing, then doing it over and over again till I got it right. First step, i know for sure, you MUST HAVE an account setup with USPS. Have you done that? Then I used the contribution "USPSMethods_2.7d" and I just folowed the instructions. That's all I did. Will try to fork out how I exactly manage to get it work. Not much of a help I guess for now. I am a newbie to this too. This is my first site I launched.
