Adding product attributes

LCC UK

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have recently been using the "product attributes" in administration and have added a couple of product relevant additions to a purchase. For example, I have a laptop for sale and I have added a laptop case, USB laptop station and extended warranty all in separate additions:

My Webpage

There are 3 sections to the product attributes, Product Options, Option Values and Product Attributes. I put an option name of "Laptop Backpack" in Product Options but in the Option Values I am only allowed to put one model of the laptop backpacks in. I would like the drop down menu on the product page to show all Laptop Backpacks and/or carry bags, whereas now I have to enter every single bag or case individually.

Does anyone have an idea how to do this or is there a mod already? I have looked at some of the mods available and they are not what I am looking for.

Ta!

Kerry

Hello Ryan

thanks but the mods you recommend are nothing to do with the product attributes section.

It's possible you want Attribute Sets version 5.5. =) Give it a read. I haven't used it, but from what I've read you create a set once then can use it on any product. If that's the case it would cut down your time, at least you'd only have to do it once and then could use the set it on any laptop.

Another alternative would be to use a attributes copier, do a contribution search on Linda McGrath and you'll find one. Also only need to do once then copy. =)

Best,

-Colin

P.S. If it was me I'd put laptop case as an option, then each specific laptop case as a option value. Then i'd copy the attributes or choose them as an attribute set, for all laptops. That being said, this is all conjecture as I haven't used this contribs or done this myself and I may be way off as it's easy to misinterpret these things. You could also write a contrib that lists existing products in the option drop downs.
