[CONTRIBUTION] Ultimate SEO URLs v2.1 - by Chemo

Recommended Posts

Thanks to all of you for your posts, support and for this excellent contribution thread.

I have installed the Ultimate SEO URLs (2.2) contribution and the iOSC contribution on my dev site (OSC2.3.3). Everything seems to work except on the mobile side I keep getting an error of too many redirects when I go to view my product on my not-so-smartphone. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks in advance!

Please wait a couple of days, I'm on the point to post a new version of Mobile OSC 6.0 (rev3), which will improve the redirects and hope will resolve this problem.

regards

Rainer

I may be sounding a noob, but where can I find a full package with install instructions for the 2-2.2d-12 release?

All the html pages in the downloads I have just point back to the contribution page. All I see in the download are 2 upload files. It looks like someone has messed with all the installs willfully.

I have been installing and re-installing the USEO urls 5 PRO by FWR media for a week now but can't get the rewrite part to work.

Please help. Any SEO url package will do as long as it does the rewrite part correctly.

Btw. I have an MS2.2. install with the Ultimate SEO version on top of that that works fine on my MAMP 1.9 installation. Also osC 2.3.1 in various installs with mods work fine too!

Yes, that is a problem with the addons section. So many addons are ruined by those who refuse to upload a full package. Anyway, use the Ultimate SEO 2-2.2d-11 version and you should be all set.

Just tried Jack. Same problem - I keep getting re-directed to the (http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2823) with all of the packages. I just don't understand. This means there is no package in the whole section that works!

Sorry. Am real nooby today. I was redirecting myself to the download page instead of opening the documentation pages.

Thanks for the help Jack.

Thanks again @@Jack_mcs. Happy after a week of check, recheck and diagnosing another SEO add-on.Works like a charm on a new osC 2.3.1 install on my MAMP 1.9 version. Now I am going to try it on my modded pre-production osC 2.3.1 with MTS templating system, MATC and various payment add-ons and languages.. Edited by DirkTromp

Hello.

I'm trying to convert few characters, my local language's letters, with settings in admin (Enter special character conversions), but not succesfully. Can someone, please tell me how to put those special characters into url; how to set it in admin? I would appreciate it a lot.

Regards.

I tried it here and it works. Please be sure you are using my latest version/ Also try turning off all other settings and then test it. If it works, then turn them back on a few at a time to narrow it down to the one causing the problem.

Hi, Jack.

Yessss; I solved the issue. Actually the problem was with letters. It seems to be that in settings should be put both lower and uppercase letters. Not just lowercase letters.

Matjaz

I have an issue, Google has reported duplicate content for my website via Webmaster Tools. Somehow it indexed a page that contained an underscore and numerical value at the end of the URL, see example below. How do I fix the below scenario?

Correct:

http://www.website.com/product-one-p-130.html

Duplicate (does not redirect to the correct link):

http://www.website.com/product-one-p-130_27.html

I don't see how that can be since product id's don't use underscores. Please post the actual urls and I will take a look.

www dot myste[remove]thoscope.com[slash]littmann-classic-infant-stethoscope-p-130.html

www dot myste[remove]thoscope.com[slash]littmann-classic-infant-stethoscope-p-130_27.html

Thanks in advance for your help, Jack.

Thanks in advance for your help, Jack.

Interesting... so I did some more digging into this issue. Here is what else I have been able to find out. The SEO URLs are not working on my shopping_cart.php file. If you add the product (Product ID 130) to the shopping cart, the URL to click back into the product is as follows:

mystethoscope.com/product_info.php?products_id=130{txt_27}{5}71

I'm guessing this has something to do with this URL mystethoscope.com/littmann-classic-infant-stethoscope-p-130_27.html and how it's working with the '_27'.

Any ideas?

If you look at the two pages you posted, the breadcrumb is the same for both. And if you click to the category that shows in the breadcrumb, there is only one link for the product. Aslo, the 27}{5} is for a product with an attribute but it shouldn't be showing up that way. So both of those indicate a problem in your shop. I suggest turning off Ultimate SEO and see what happens when you use this url: www.mystethoscope.com/product_info.php?products_id=130_27. If you are still having problems, I suggest you post in the general forum since this isn't a problem with this addon.

You're right, I turned off SEO URLS and the error still persists. Do you know what PHP file the issue may reside in? I'll open up another topic in the general forum, but thought you may be able to point me in the right direction to troubleshoot. My store is heavily modified unfortunately.

EDIT:

Something interesting I noticed.... I can change the numerical value after the underscore '_' to any value and the URL works.

For example:

littmann-master-classic-stethoscope-p-121_22.html
littmann-master-classic-stethoscope-p-121_23.html
littmann-master-classic-stethoscope-p-121_24.html
littmann-master-classic-stethoscope-p-121_25.html
littmann-master-classic-stethoscope-p-121_26.html
littmann-master-classic-stethoscope-p-121_27.html

HOWEVER! This issue also exists probably on all OSCOMMERCE storefronts. I just tested on the demo store, see below:

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_22

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_23

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_24

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_25

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_26

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_27

Wonder if there is a way to fix this....

I'm still curious why the SEO URL is not showing up for the product URLs that are in the cart. They're using the product_info.php?products_id=121 format...

Template designers commonly code incorrectly for oscommerce shops so my guess is that that is the reason. There's no telling where they did that but the product_listing.php file might be a place to start.

Jack, this doesn't seem to be a template issue, it's occuring on the base install as well. Examples below:

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_22

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_23

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_24

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_25

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_26

http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_27

Is there anyway to update the SEO URL code to look for a trailing '_" after the category ID and correct the URL? It appears to be correcting if there is a trailing '-', but not a trailing '_'.

For example (this works):

littmann-classic-stethoscope-p-131-27.html

REDIRECTS TO THE CORRECT URL:

littmann-classic-stethoscope-p-131.html

This does not:

littmann-classic-stethoscope-p-131_27.html

DOES NOT REDIRECT TO THE CORRECT URL:

littmann-classic-stethoscope-p-131.html

Hi there,

I'm working on osCommerce v2.2 RC2a, thats running this module.

Its started kicking up some errors stating

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING ... /seo.class.php(2206) : eval()'d code on line 1

I'm positive that the module has never been updated.

Would this be the first port of call?

If so what version would be best for osCommerce v2.2 RC2a.
