Please check it out and let us know what you think. There is always something that could be sharper or that we have overlooked, conversley there could be something that works particularly well, your feedback will be invaluable in helping us improve the site. Our design approach has been a "less is more" one that hopefully allows the function of the site to come across loud and clear. We have used a number of mods in creating the site but these are probably the most essential: Ultimate SEO urls UK based osCommerce OnTheFly_GDThumbs Products Extra Fields Oscommerce is a wondeful thing that has really opened up our world. FalseDawn
Good to see a dedicated SSL Thumbnails are ok. The greyness still reminds me of stock OSC and looks like bit too much of a contrast with your red. The overall layout is still very much stock as well. If I click "checkout" with an empty cart, why do you show the first checkout page - I should be redirected to a page telling me that the cart is empty. Make DOB/Gender optional or remove them. Don't like scrolling boxes. Advanced search pop up still has default text. Good to see you've removed the useless dates, though. Search magnifying glass icon has white box around it - looks messy. A lot of your spacer gifs have a blank yellow tag when I hover over them. A header and meta tag controller and the ultimate SEO URL will help your search engine results. You should really have installed these before going live... Click "forgotten password link" - get the "error - this Email address not found" Why does the "back" button on this screen take me to the login page? FalseDawn
I see you said you installed the ultimate SEO URLs - either you meant something different to Chemo's contribution, or it is not installed correctly. You probably mean the pname/cName contribution? Use Chemo's - it is better.
Stevethehat
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback Good to see a dedicated SSL Thumbnails are ok. OK The greyness still reminds me of stock OSC and looks like bit too much of a contrast with your red. The overall layout is still very much stock as well. Agree layout hasn't deviated greatly. Didn't feel that the basic structure needed a radical overhaul for our needs. Concentrated more on good functionality and effective design. Perhaps mk 11 we will look at this, agree red could be too much. If I click "checkout" with an empty cart, why do you show the first checkout page - I should be redirected to a page telling me that the cart is empty. I'm not sure about this behaviour. On my machine, if you are not logged in, you are directed to the create account page. If you are logged in, you are taken to shopping cart is empty message. Make DOB/Gender optional or remove them. Aren't people used to being asked this sort of thing? Don't like scrolling boxes. Not a great fan myself, but with so many books the bestsellers does give us a way of showing customers what is hot. Advanced search pop up still has default text. Good to see you've removed the useless dates, though. Thanks, missed the default text Search magnifying glass icon has white box around it - looks messy. OK, agree A lot of your spacer gifs have a blank yellow tag when I hover over them. Yes, I had noticed this. Is there an easy remidy? A header and meta tag controller and the ultimate SEO URL will help your search engine results. You should really have installed these before going live... I have installed Chemo's ultimate SEO url. I thought it was working OK. On my machine under my book categories for instance, the history url now ends cName=history, rather than as before. Is this not what should have happened? Click "forgotten password link" - get the "error - this Email address not found" Why does the "back" button on this screen take me to the login page? Yeh, good spot. Don't need email address not found. Not really sure that a back button is needed here. cheers
Guest
when clicking your phone number in the top right corner it takes you to an about us page where you have hours of operation and the street address. When clicking contact us you don't have any of this information, just the form. I would suggest duplicating or moving that information over to the contact us page. billybrag
Looks good, nice to see a fellow book seller :) i would put a statement in the search box just to say that ISBNs should be added without the "-"'s which is what some people do. i know this from past experiance. other than that it seems nice and clean, good job :) Mike "because it'll hurt more"- the greatest film of all time?
