Guest
I've read the install guid on the osCommerce Knowledge Base, under Web Based Installation Procedure, and have noticed that the install pictures are different to the ones in my installation. In the Web Based Installation Procedure shows the database panel as having a section to enter a Database Table Prefix, with a recommendation to do so, but I don't have this option on my install panel. Is there a newer version of the software somewhere, or have I done the installation incorrectly? How can I set the Database Table Prefix? Thanks for your help. Wendy James
I looked at the install instructions in the knowledgebase and I have installed osc a dozen times or so and have never seen the screen "Database Import Configuration" when installing. Unless you use your database for other things, you do not need to have a prefix. Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. Guest
there are no steps for a database table prefix. if you have that, it is news to me. leave it blank then. send us a link after you get it installed!
Guest
I was just using the install guide here http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce_D...nd_Upgrades/225 I'm having some problems and was looking to find where I may have gone wrong, so when I saw this, it made me think that I may have not installed it properly, or had an older version. I have no need to use Database Table Prefix for osCommerce, I will use a seperate database, I was just looking for answers.
Guest
yes, i see what you are talking about. could be they are changing things around for working with ms3, i have a question into the team regarding this. in the meantime the installation procedure will not ask you for that at all. Guest
Hi, The kb is for CVS or MS3 and will be included in the download when MS3 is released. If you don't have the same screens as the kb says now just follow along...it is very similar. Thanks!
Guest
Kyama, suggest not using the CVS, as the release is not stable, it is for development for the next release, not all things are working. suggest you download from here, by clicking on 'Download' on the right hand side. http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions

skylerj
Hi, I found this thread while trying to find out why the prefix selection box appears in a screenshot in the documentation (aka "knowledge base") for the installation procedure and is described in detail, but appears to no longer exist when you actually go about installing oscommerce. This is bad for me because I was trying to install several versions of oscommerce on one database for the purposes of testing and modifying, and I can't do this without being able to assign different prefixes for each install. Am I missing something? Where did it go, can I get it back, and/or is there a workaround? Many thanks for any help you fine people can give me. Wendy James
You will need seperate databases for each install of oscommerce, until the release of MS3 Modom was speaking of.
