Guest Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I've had my first site live for a couple of weeks now, and the strangest thing is happening - every so often, an order comes through with the payment type of credit card (the only option offered), but all the credit card information (number, expiry, etc...) is blank in the database. I'm just using the straight credit card module, no payment gateways or anything. We've had about 250 orders, and 9 of these have come through w/o cc info. It can go a couple of days without anything missing, then maybe one or two the next day, etc... I don't see any pattern to these people - the orders are placed at all times of the day, from all different states. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm getting in a lot of trouble for this, and I just can't put a finger on what might be happening. Thanks!
Guest Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 which cc module r u using, just the standard one which comes from osC?
Guest Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 which cc module r u using, just the standard one which comes from osC? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, just the standard. No mods or anything.
Guest Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 BTW, of the posts I could find in this subject, most were unanswered, but I did see one mentioning time outs as the potential problem. Is this possible? Is there something is the server logs I might be able to check? Also, any suggestions for quality control on this - i.e. doing a db query after the order and, if the cc isn't there, return them to the beginning for a new order? Or just get the cc again? Where would be the best place for this - the beginning of the page that prints the your order was successfully placed message? Thanks again, to anyone taking the time to read this...
Guest Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 tough to track down, you would need to match up when it failed with the logs. could be your host server is slow too
Guest Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 tough to track down, you would need to match up when it failed with the logs. could be your host server is slow too <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *nod* The ISP basically told me it probably wasn't their fault, but if it was, I should suck it up. I'd be surprised, though, since a couple of them have failed at really off hours, while we've had 80 come through in the span of an hour or two (right after a commercial) and be okay. It really seems random... Any thoughts on the re-try? Would it work, or be risky? thanks...:-)
Guest Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 be a tough one, who is the host? i would venture to say an overloaded web server
Guest Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 be a tough one, who is the host? i would venture to say an overloaded web server <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry...didn't see the response. :-( Host is Verio. My instinct was overloaded server, but they don't really happen in bunches, as you would expect if it were an overload thing - just sort of randomly scattered throughout. So I'm a bit dubious...
