Is a Verisign SSL cert. worth it?

Is the steep price ($350 for one year) of a Verisign SSL cert. worth it. I already have SSL set up, but I am thinking of switching for the better brand name and (hopefully) better conversion rates.

Any ideas/experiences on what has worked

what one do you have now? there are many top rated companies out there. one thing you need to look at, is what is the 'gurantee' they give for the ssl certs. godaddy's $20 certificate gurantee's a whopping $20 for the consumer, and doesnt verify who you are to your merchant provider. i use/push comodo, a bit less pricy than verisign

I can't attest to Verisign (even though their East Coast offices are right outside of my office), since I've never used them. I can't justify to myself, or my clients that $349.99 is worth it.

I buy all my certs through Registerfly, who is a reseller for various SSL companies, depending on how much of a guarantee and what type of encyption you need. They range from $15 -$99 for a year. Which isn't bad at all.

Hope that helps.

Way too much money. Try finding one for $150 or so. I did instantssl.com for one site and I can't remember the other one. I have ssl no problems.

If your hosted ask your host because they might have to install it anyways, but on the downside they probably have a deal with an ssl company so be cautious on what they offer.

I use verisigns payflowpro and love it so I'm not knockin em, just sounds pricey.

I currently have a GoDaddy cert. It cost about $30 or so.

Switching to a different provider of ssl certificates isn't going to do a thing for your conversion rates. It would be better to look at your own branding and what you are offering.
