fleart1 Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 HI, Am brand new and installing but my homepage images show but none of the links work for images or test and I get this error "Unable to connect to database server!" also the images dont show in the admin panel pruducts it says they do not exist when I try to load the descriptions and wont show a preview. Lastly, my password field i database config table wont lock the admin panel, can you body pleas tell me how to do that. thanks
Guest Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 means something messed up in the configure.php file if you can not connect to the database. make sure the db name, username and password are set correctly. are you on a shared server? could be a setting for your images, or paths. there is no password protection by default with oscommerce, you must use htaccess (do you use cpanel/vdeck?) options to password protect directory

fleart1 Posted June 4, 2005 Author Posted June 4, 2005 One more thing I noticed. When I use a com address it always works but when I replace it with this biz address it always gives the database error. I am using frontpage2000... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well if anybody is listening, I dont think the biz is doing anything. http://heavensentgiftbaskets.biz It must be the config for some reason. Can someone please help, there isn't anything I can read and I have read everything. The database data is CORRECT according to the web place! The config works for every other domain name ie my web.com but wont for this, all I did was change the domain name in the index.htm which is causing the problem.. I was using FP2000 and it went bad so trying dreamweaver but it will not run on desktop and all others do? I double checked links for it adn am putting the config below for the heck of it thanks // Define the webserver and path parameters // * DIR_FS_* = Filesystem directories (local/physical) // * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL) define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.heavensentgiftbaskets.biz'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.heavensentgiftbaskets.biz'); define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https//www.heavensentgiftbaskets.biz'); define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false'); // secure webserver for catalog module define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', 'C:\hosting\webhost4life\member\heavensent/homedir/public_html/'); // where the pages are located on the server define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/admin/'); // absolute path required define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', 'C:\hosting\webhost4life\member\heavensent/homedir/public_html/admin/'); // absolute pate required define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/'); // absolute path required define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', 'C:\\hosting\\webhost4life\\member\\heavensent\\homedir\\public_html\\'); // absolute path required define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', '/admin/images/'); define('DIR_WS_ICONS', DIR_WS_IMAGES .
