Hello

i was reading up on a few sites that say the first thing to do is add you site to the yahoo directory then dmoz and then start adding to the smaller ones.

When i looked at the yahoo directory most of the site there are usa based and sell in dollars, yahoo also charges $299.00 per year to be listed.

So would it be worth added a uk based site to it and what would i be getting for my money as ?150 is a lot just to be listed, and are the benefits worth it ?

many thanks

You will probably get more for your money if you select smaller more targetet directories which are closer to your marked and target group.

Thanks jenny,

Dont know of any good ones do you ?

kind regards

The choice of such directories is very individual, because it should be based on your loaction, shop, your products and your target groups and so on.

Do an analysis of your marked/target groups, use that as a base to search out directories/web sites which caters to the same target groups.

Depends on what you aim for, a listing in a major directory with the right text can be a major asset.

But if you are on a limited budget and you are only selling items within the UK, then you can probably spend your ad money better elswere.

A listing in Yahoo, DMOZ, and MSN directories gets you one step closer to being considered an authority site. I highly recommend it based on this alone...as the translation to traffic through Google (which is the only engine that uses the 3 primary listings as authoritive reference) will more than offset the $300 per year fee.

Yahoo Directory, UK

I did not pay a penny to be listed in yahoo? I have submitted my site to the US-Yahoo directory and now i'm listed in no matter what yahoo-directory
