petermichaux
Hi, Where is a good place to buy an SSL certificate? Verisign seems to sell 128 bit certificates for $1000 but geotrust.com sells them for as low as $150/year (i think they are 128 bit). How many bits are necessary? What are you really buying from these certificate companies? How about OpenSSL? Thanks, Peter

Guest
geotrust.com sells them for as low as $150/year There are resellers of Geotrust where you can buy them cheaper than $150.
Guest
be careful for what you purchase. if you purchase the very low end, read the disclaimer, THEY DO NOT PASS WHO YOU ARE TO YOUR MERCHANT ACCOUNT GATEWAY which means all they are doing is letting the customer signup with 128 bit and then pass the info along to the gateway. need pro or higher, and the trust logos help. the higher the price of the certificate, the higher dollar value of protection offered.
