Adding fields in account_edit

I want the customer to be able to edit the company in account_edit.php.

 

I have been able to create the field and read the existing field from the database but when I try to update it, the original company name is still there. What I have noticed is that the other customer info is part of customers table and company is in address_book table. Happen to notice that variables for customers info are $customers_lastname, etc. but I think I need to use $entry_company.

 

Any help? I've searched high and low for an answer to this. Certainly others would like their customers to be able to correct company names if misspelled or changed for whatever reason.
