Telephone number not a required field

Hi,

 

Can someone tell me how to change telephone number so that it is not a required field on the create account page as I feel it puts some custermers off from making an account.

Forget that, definitely does not work.

 

You'll have to do it the old-fasioned way, removing all of the error references in a whole batch of files, not just create_account.php.

I, too, would very much like to know if there's any easy (or even relatively hard) way to make the telephone field not required. I've tried changing the JavaScript in hopes that this would be enough but it's obviously reading the required information from somewhere else.

 

I actually think this is pretty important because I know that a lot of people will definitely be put off by it and it's so unnecessary.

 

Any help at all would be appreciated.
