everything good except database connect

On my admin/index.php page, i can set up everything, and all the links work properly (which they werent before) I started set-up of my store and changed a couple things on my style sheet. I tryed to check my store out by clicking the Online Catalog link. I get this error

 

1046 - No Database Selected

 

select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

 

[TEP STOP]

 

 

My configure.php files have localhost as the database server and my correct username/password. can someone please suggest something else to try or help a confused young html web designer figure out this database stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!
