Session IDs

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I think I'm having trouble with Session ID's.

In my admin, I have the following settings in the Sessions page:

Session Directory /tmp

Force Cookie Use False

Check SSL Session ID False

Check User Agent False

Check IP Address False

Prevent Spider Sessions True

Recreate Session False

As I understand it, this is the the type of set up that would not allow spiders to create a session ID, so as to help with the engine rankings.

Site visitors on the other hand should not see the drawn-out, session id in the URL, such as index.php?cPath=7&osCsid=df16e40c5829b4b09bbbee156733faf5

However, this is not what happens. Often when I go to my site, and rollover the side links to the categories, I see, in the status bar, this type of path, with a session ID.

If I reload the page, however, and do the same again, the session ID has disappeared.

Sometimes I don't get a session ID from the onstart.

The settings have not changed in about 8 months.

This does the same in both Firefox, and IE.

I don't understand why this would be intermittent. Has any one else ever experienced this? Or perhaps have I misunderstood?

If you would like to see the site, and whether a session is started, it's http://www.musthavetoys.com (adults only please).

Many thanks,
