Redesigned Whalesale.com

Recommended Posts

Whalesale.com has been redesigned.

What do you think?

What is good/bad?

(live store)

Aquarium Supply Whalesale

New changes I made.

Redesigned header/footer/main page.

Dynamic buttons in header/footer based on log-in/log-off status.

Please be honest. Its the only way I can learn.

Good:

Cute logo, although it appears to have gone a bit wrong round the little fish and buttons.

Contact Page

Bad:

Shared SSL, with a Seal that lists your web host's name rather than your own.

Page links have a yellow background - looks bad.

Buttons in your header look cramped and badly sized. I can click on "checkout" with nothing in my cart, then why is there a "proceed directly to checkout" option? My cart is empty...

"Your personal data is secure. Our web site employs the latest in security technology"

Which is? If you don't have space to write more, create a link to your FAQ. security policy etc (which I see you don't have - you could do with more or better info pages)

Images are suffering from "surrounding block"effect, and are a little grainy.

Partner link with fuzzy text.

Are those stock buttons?

Empty "thin" box on your product pages below the description.

Advanced search poup default text and funny corners.

Hope that helps for now.

Thank you for the review

Shared SSL cert is infact not shared.

I own advanced-webhosting.com

Should I state this somewhere?

Can you please tell me more details of what is off in on the website?

Also what $var would I use to state if there is something in the cart or not?

If your site does not have a dedicated IP address, with the cert linked to your domain explicity, then it is considered "shared", regardless of who owns the hosting company. Your decision if you want to mention it or not...

To see if the cart is empty, I believe you can use the get_quantity() method on the $cart object to see how many items are in the cart - if u need further details, post in general support.

Thank you for the explanation.

I have the add cart and checkout buttons hidden now.

I will get dedicated SSL cert for this site as soon as my current cert expires.

Or is there a way to get a cert changed?
