Guest Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Hi! I need help my oscommerce site is not working with Internet Explorer browser but if i use Mozilla browser it will work very very fine! i hope you can help me! thank you achilles :( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a similar problem with firefox, when my page loads up with firefox, it looks terrible, but in ie its perfect ? I belive its the way that ie, mozilla, firefox, etc use different rendering options which in some cases casue the page to not look right, I would love an all round solution if anyone has one ?>
FalseDawn Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Firefox adheres more closely to defined standards, while IE is more forgiving of sloppy HTML. Try using the HTML validator at W3C. The only good solution is not to write sloppy HTML!
achilles Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 What exactly isnt working about it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> everything is not working properly. the font, the images, the links everything.... thank you. achilles
♥Vger Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Firefox adheres more closely to defined standards, while IE is more forgiving of sloppy HTML It's true that Firefox is more compliant with w3c standards. However, with regard to osCommerce, it is IE that is more rigorous and Firefox that allows for more sloppy coding. I have seen many cases where a page renders fine in Firefox when file pathways are not set absolutely correctly, but IE won't 'guess' at the pathway in the way that Firefox does and so the page does not render properly in IE. So - if your site looks fine in Firefox but not in IE firstly check out your includes/configure.php file to make sure your pathways are absolutely correct, and if you have been altering the table structure in files then try reverting to original copies or else track down where the problem is. Finally, as several people have already pointed out, it's no use posting comments like "Everything is not working" without some concrete examples of errors and a link to the site. Vger
Butterfly Princess Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 would the includes/configure.php you stated stand true from contributions also? The reason i ask is i have the manufacturers images mod to where it shows random manufacturers inmages in the box. Well in I.E. it works but in Firefox it doesnt. Is that something that can be fixed there or something else that needs to be adressed Thanks
