Session issues

Recommended Posts

I'm new to osCommerce and have been having trouble with my installation. Specifically, I can't get my sessions to stay "alive" consistently -- a guest puts an item in the cart, at which point one of several things happens:

1. Is redirected to shopping cart, which reads "empty" (despite having attempted to add an item

2. Is sent to the registration page, fills it out, clicks continue, and is taken to the "welcome guest!" home page

3. Is taken to the "welcome [new name]" page, but when trying to check out, keeps shifting into "guest" mode and being required to re-login.

Items I've checked in the administrative tool:

1. Recreate session set to false

2. Force cookie use is false

3. SSL is disabled (I chose not to use it during installation)

4. Sessions are saved to files, not to the database

I've also checked in the configure.php file and the HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN address does not include http:// . I've attached my configure.php file from the catalog at the end of this post.

I'm beginning to wonder if I uploaded the files incorrectly. If so, do I need to re-upload everything? Just a few? Should they be in binary or ascii?

Thanks in advance for any help.
